We had the official opening of the ‘A World of Photography’ exhibition on the 30th of November, from 7pm onwards. This was the second event that brought people into the exhibition, the first being a celebration of the accreditation of the new degree course the Australian Academy of Design.

Both events were well attended, with the actual opening having about 150 people come through at various times during the night.

The response to the work has been strong and positive, with a good range of interest between the ’straight’ photography and the heavily manipulated, and everything in between. One work has sold so far, one by Alan Lau. With the exhibition up at least through till xmas the gallery is hopeful of more sales. There has been strong interest in the purchase of several other pieces.

Below are some photos I took on the night before I became busy talking to people and making the opening speech. The photos go from just after we opened, when there was still lots of natural light, to after we had to turn the lighting on. It was a hot 36 degree day here in Melbourne and a lovely, warm evening.
